I have been unemployed for four months, and I was sending my resume to countless employers over CareerBuilder.com A few days later I reserved a call from a company asking if I'd like to come in for an interview, but didn't bother telling me who they worked for. At the time I didn't really think anything of it so I went in. There location was difficult to find and was unpleasant to look at. They were located in the smallest suite in a strip mall on a bad side of town. They didn't have a sign above their door and their suite number was so small you had to walk up to the door to read it. After my five minute interview I was asked to come in to orientation the following day.

During orientation I realized that all of the newly hires were just like me. We all have had been unemployed for at least three months if not longer. The same guy who interviewed me was the one speaking at our orientation. He started with "We only hire the best of the best." (Then why are you intentionally hiring people who can not find work??) We had to fill out an application but didn't fill out a W-4 form. Once we all had finished filling out our applications, the single man took us into the back to inform us that we all had gotten the job and in a couple of months we could work our way up to management or open a store of our own elsewhere. He went on for six hours telling us that our base pay was going to be $450.00/week and we had the chance to make up to $3,000.00 a week if we worked hard enough if not more. If we sold two vacuums we would revise 800.00 for the week and if we sold 3 vacuums we would get 1500.00 for the week. He continued to say that every week they have insensitive to make sure we are not working because we have bills to pay but because we want to work. These insensitive included the chance to win a 60'' flat screen T.V. a 500.00 prize that was added onto your week's check, and many more. He claimed that whoever sold the most vacuums revised the prize of the week the prizes were always something of high value. (The entire time he was saying this I was thinking, how in the *** can you guys afford all this but you can not afford a nice facility, or even a nice sign??)

He asked us about our job history and put down every job we ever had and tried to make his company would never do anything like those other companies. "We have never had any layoffs, and we have never had to fire anyone!"

If things are starting to sound to good to be true you haven't heard anything yet. Every four months we go to take our husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend on an all expense paid vacation to Hawaii, the Bahamas, Amusement parks, etc. Including hotel, All you can eat, minibar, etc.

When I finally asked about the lack of advertising, and not having a sign the man go frustrated. After a while he said they are going to be moving next month across the street because they are in need of more space.

The following day we were suppose to come back at 10:30a.m. We meet with the same man. This time only half of us showed up, I don't blame the others for giving up on this company I was tempted not to return myself. The man insulted the people who didn't come back saying that they are ignorant for giving up so easy and they are not going to find anything better than this job. Then he asked what our roommates/partners thought about us working for Kirby. I told the man that my boyfriend has some friends who have worked for this company and they didn't have a very good experience. Every time he spoke to me after that he was insulting them saying things like "If they don't make over 2,000.00/week their opinion is invalid, and if you want to listen to your *** friends go right ahead but if you do there's no way you are going to get ahead in life, you're going to be working a deadbeat job and living in a shack" I spoke up and put him in his place, even though they were not my friends he did not have a right insulting people that he did not know, or have a good enough reason to. (Very unprofessional) He continued. "Tyler I know that you are shy but if you don't change you're going to be shy, ***, lazy, and ignorant." I was going to tell him off and walk out the door, but I didn't something told me to keep quiet.

He started to show us how to assemble and put on a demonstration of the vacuum. After that he got a pizza and shared it with all of us. Then sent us home.

Once I got home I researched this company and found some horrific things. Back in 2011 some employees filed a lawsuit against the Kirby Company for not paying them. One of them was paid 25.00 for three weeks of work, another 35.00 for a six weeks of work. The list goes on. Another person suffered from identity theft through the company. If you are researching this company I assume you have already came across at least one of these lawsuits.

If you ever fall victim to this scam please keep your eyes open and don't fall for their tricks.

A professional organization does not feel the need to put down and ridicule others, just because they chose not to proceed or had a bad experience. But we already know these Kirby distributorships are not professional and this is evidenced not only thru personal experience but also through the thousands of personal experiences posted by others across the world, all over the internet.

I agree with what you wrote and it sounds like a typical Kirby experience. I did want to point out: when you used the word "insensitive", I think the word you meant was "incentive". When you used the word "revise" I think the word you wanted was "receive".
