Years ago my mother was browbeaten by a relentless Kirby salesperson and purchased a vacuum she could not afford on her limited income. I took it off her hands to help her financially. Now years later it sits in our basement unused, even for me as a physically fit younger person it is ungainly to use. I would make a better boat anchor than vacuum. Attachments are terribly designed and useless. In my opinion this companies product and sales tactics border on being considered a crime.

Heavy

The vacuum is very heavy and the attachments are very complicated. Nothing is attached so there is a whole separate storage area needed. The suction is great but you cant use it on stairs and because its so heavy you wouldnt want to anyway. If you have a one level home that is small enough, it will keep your carpets wonderful. But if youre living in a two level home and you have to haul that around it is not worth it.

The dealer in Terre Haute is an *** Hes youre best friend when he thinks youre dumb, but a baby when youre not happy. He told me 175$ for a tune up, then charged me 205$. When I complained that that is not what he quoted he said fine Ill put the old parts back in. He took my vacuum away from me! He wouldnt budge!

They also have a Facebook page - Kirby Company of Terre Haute. It looks like they remove any negative reviews but you can send them a private message. Be warned - google reviews about the owner from former employees all say he is not a nice person.

Hi, my friend and I called twice today to learn how to attach shampoo attachment, and we could not figure out how to detach it, and then reattach it without everything falling apart. We could not figure out how to do it after two calls to your customer service. Most likely, we will rent a rug doctor or some similar device to shampoo a very large area upstairs at my home.

Kirby Problems

I have had nothing but trouble with this machine. I tried to use it to pick up some water. Like a shop vac. I have to rearange some parts I can not get it back together. Please help- me. I just lost my job I can not afford it anylonger. Can I just give it back and stop paying. It is still like brand new . I never vacumed with it. I tried to to clean my carpet because I have a dog. Could not get it to work. Called my dealer someone was going to come out but never did. Need help please

For some reason and financial incapacity we decided not to proceed and CANCEL on newly acquired Kirby Vacuum Cleaner contract worth 13k AED to the independent dealer who went to our home dtd 11th June 2022. But as per the dealers advised, they don't have Return Policy in the signed contract. I just want to know if our request could be lawfully possible? Thanks

There is no lifetime warranty and Kirby will NOT purchase the vacuum back. You have 3 days to return a Kirby.

If you buy in cash, you can usually get them down to $800. There is no lifetime warranty, it's a limited 3 year warranty.

You can check the Kirby site on that. Those dolts work on 100% commission and will say anything to make a sale.

I was cheated by your company

I was told in order for me to get the best deal I had to give up my Dyson vacuum and my old Kirby after giving up my products I found out I could have saved 300.00 by buying the same system on Amazon so I may have gotten a great vacuum system but I think I was coned out of 2 vacuums I could have given to a family member I tried to rectify this by calling the vendor but I couldnt get in touch with anyone with the number I was given but thats ok I will be posting some warnings on the neighbors app so this wont happen again

1. They will dodge your calls until the 3 day return period has passed 2. Even if you had gotten ahold of someone, they will claim they can't find your trade-ins.

My husband is disabled, right leg above knee amputation. In August 2021 some independent distributor came knocking on our door and sold us one of Kirby newest vacuum that just came out.

I don't work, the only income we have is my husband's disability money. We told the seller were not interested or neither are we looking to buy one, so the seller went with then let me do a demo because it is a part of my job and when I'm done and you guys still don't want it, then I'll just leave.

Since he was so persistent we let him do his job and waiting for him to leave, but nope he didn't leave but kept asking if he is willing to help us lower the price of the Kirby Vacuum then will we be willing to buy the vacuum? We both said no, we still can not afford it because the only income flowing into our household is his disability money.

He asks if it was ok if he does a credit check to see how good is our credit score and nothing more, we told him no, but he was so persistent that we gave in thinking that that was the only thing he would be doing only. On the credit score application he put down that my husband was receiving $900, which is not true at all, secondly he put down on the credit score application that I had a job and was also bring home an extra $900.

My husband and I gave him the look, and he said if we won't say anything, and he won't tell then there will be no problems, and for me as his wife to think of it as helping my husband get approved for the loan and for me to think of it as a co-sign or as co-buyer. We were approved so fast that all I remember was signing the contract with my husband as he is the 1st buyer and me signing as the 2nd buyer, but the contract was in my husband's name. My husband was told to answer yes to all the questions the finance department asked, and that is what he did.

The seller told us that we had 3 business day to cancel the contract from the date of purchase. So for any reason he/we want to cancel then for us to just signed and date where it states and send it through the mail back to them.

So after 2 days of purchasing the Kirby Vacuum, my husband called the finance department and told them that he will not be paying the loan and wants to cancel the contract. The finance department didn't sound too happy, but the lady said she will put a note on the side of his account and for him to sign and date and drop it in the mailbox. He made sure that that was all he needed to do to cancel the contract.

After mailing the cancellation contract out, we did not hear from the distributor or the finance department until a week later, when we didn't send in the first payment. Comes to find out the distributor told them that they never received the cancellation contract from our end, and they weren't sure if we actually did mail it out, or we are just saying that we did, because anyone can say that they did, but reality did not.

With all that is happening is just dispute after dispute, and it is getting nowhere.

Got my husband and I, thinking that probably the cancellation contract did reach the distributor and since we were not given the proper instructions on how to mail the cancellation contract as a certified mail with a tracking number to be tracked down if it got to the correct place or not, so the distributor think that they will get away with it and not get in trouble, or refund the money back.

The distributor was rude, unprofessional and doesn't belong in this line of work.

There is more, but it will be too long. I think it is too late already to canceled now, and we have a payment that cost almost $60 monthly payment to pay and no extra source of other income flowing in for help.

Why did you let a stranger into your home? Why did you agree to watch the demonstration?

Why did you give this stranger your SSNs? Why did you both sign the contract, agreeing to finance something you repeatedly stated you could not afford? Kirby reps work for 100% commission and are DESPERATE to make sales, no matter what! You need to fight this and not back down.

File a complaint with the BBB and the consumer protection department of your state's Attorney General's office.

Bug the crap out of the local distributor's office, the finance company and Kirby home office. Call your local news station and ask they do a story on how you have been ripped off, as you did try to cancel within the 3 days and it sounds like the finance company did NOT send out the form.

I was cheated by your company

When the salesman came into my house his price started off in the high 3000 Then when he slashed the prices almost in half but in order for me to get that price I had to give up my old Kirby and my Dyson vacuum he did not tell me I could have upgraded my old kirby and I found the same system on Amazon and when I contacted Amazon they informed me they do not sell knock offs So I fell I got cheated what do you think

The best thing is to not deal with Kirby at all. There are multiple layers of commissions built into the price, thereby making the price grossly inflated.

The salespeople work on 100% commission and say virtually anything to make a sale. If you hold your ground and pay cash, you can get them down to $800.

This is a terrible machine and the customer service is pitiful. I have tried for almost 1 year, starting 1 week after the purchase in which I was pressured into.

I was home alone, he pretty much pushed his way into the door. During his little show, I told him at least 5 times I didn't need or want it, but he would not stop. I pretty much bought it to get him to leave. When you email or call Kirby you either get hung up on or no help at all, but they can assist in ordering parts.

Well I don't need bags the damn thing doesn't work. And don't wait for an email response, you don't get a room reply.

So thank you Kirby for taking advantage of people during this pandemic you can't assist in even getting the machine running but you have no problem charging my credit card monthly. So in turn lock your doors if they come by they are a SCAM DO Not PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT

You are way past the 3 day refund period so you can forget that. Also, NEVER let strangers in your home and if they push their way in or refuse to leave, you start screaming and call 911.
